I have my father's hair--thick, curly, temperamental like our moods--and my mother's love for books and her tendency to fall asleep during movies already seen. It is who I am--along with the sometimes unshaven legs, tired eyes, and hunger for salty foods that gives me padding like that mound on my stomach. Brown hair and blue eyes and chipped toenail polish on pale feet. A blemish. Not nearly perfect but perfectly comfortable most of the time.
